Province of Rizal


The population of Region IV-A (CALABARZON) as of May 1, 2020 was 16,195,042 based on the 2020 Census of Population (POPCEN 2020) accounting for 14.85% of the Philippine population with an annual population growth rate of 2.48 for the year 2015-2020. In addition to this, its population density of 854 persons per square kilometer grew at 960 persons per square kilometer from the year 2015 to 2010. 

Out of the 16,195,042 population of CALABARZON for the 2020 published year, 3,330,143 of these inhabitants belong to the Rizal Province with an annual population growth rate of 3.07 for the year 2015-2020. The population density of the province increased from 2,165 persons per square kilometer in 2015 to 2,800 persons square kilometer in 2020.

Among the thirteen (13) municipalities and one (1) city in the Rizal Province, Baras is next to Angono in terms of population size. Antipolo City has the largest population share in the province with its 887,399 population for the year 2020 which grew at an annual population growth rate of 2.85 from 2015-2020. Population density-wise, Antipolo City has 2,899 persons per square kilometers (2020) with a 26.65% population share. 

Baras has a total population of 87,637 in 2020 which comprises 2.63% population share for the Rizal Province. This has a 5.06% annual population growth rate (2015-2020) and a population density of 1,000 persons per square kilometer which is a significant increase from 816 persons per square kilometer in 2015. 

As compared to the other municipalities and city in the province, Baras has a medium population which can be considered as a population for rural communities. The population density of the municipality is 4.17% higher than that of the CALABARZON Region and 64.29% less than that of Rizal Province.


The population of Baras as of 01 May 2020 is 87,637 based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH). This accounts for about 2.63 percent of the Rizal Province population in 2020.

The 2020 population of the municipality is higher by 18,337 from the population of 69,300 in 2015, and 55,028 more than the population of 32,609 in 2010. Moreover, it is higher by 63,123 compared with the population of 24,514 in 2000.


The population of Baras increased by 5.06 percent annually from 2015 to 2020. By comparison, the rate at which the population of the municipality grew from 2010 to 2015 was higher at 15.43 percent. 

Among the ten barangays comprising Baras, Pinugay had the biggest population in 2020 with 50,609 persons, followed by San Salvador with 11,476 persons, San Jose with 5,106 persons, and San Juan with 4,838 persons. Concepcion had the smallest population with 1,144 persons.

In 2015, Baras had a young and active population in 2015 comprised of 52.52 percent or 36,396 of its total population aged 0-24 years while its working and labor force, aged 25-59 years, comprised 42.07 percent or 29,155 of the total population. 5.41 percent or 3,749 of its population belonged to the retiree group (60-above years old). 

An estimated 36,349 individuals or 52.45 percent will comprise the labor/ working group population of Baras after 10 years or until the end of the planning period (2026). While 6,584 or 9.50 percent of its population will soon retire in 2026. 

Based on the population distribution by sex in 2015 census year, male population surpassed female population by 2.3 percent where most or 4,227 among male population belonged to 0-4 years of age and most or 4,093 among female population belonged to 0-4 years of age also.
