Baras (Pinugay) Solar Power Plant

Solenergy Systems, together with Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., was commissioned by Global Business Power Corp. to provide the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of this 115 MW peak solar plant in Baras, Rizal.

The Baras solar plant project with 211,020 PV modules, located inside a 135-hectare area within the PHILCOMSAT grounds, would help the country's rising demand for cleaner and more economical electricity supply. The Baras project will generate about 165,000 MWh of power per year.

The Baras Solar was completed in phases, with Phase 1 activated in 2023 and Phase 2 in 2024. Aside from boosting the country’s clean energy targets, the solar facility is also envisioned to fuel local economic growth by creating jobs and supporting small businesses. In the construction phase alone, MGen was able to employ over 1,600 local workers, including 300 women who played key roles in the plant’s completion.

With its recent expansion, Baras Solar now has a total capacity of 80.1 MWac, making it the first and only solar farm in Rizal. This is a milestone for a province known for its natural wonders and thriving eco-tourism as it now embraces clean energy development, ensuring sustainable progress while preserving its environment.
